SharePoint Administrator SME

Position Overview:
The Sr. SharePoint SME in this role will support the United States Geological Survey (USGS).  The Sr SharePoint Administrator and Developer (SP SME) requires multiple skills related to an Enterprise SharePoint environment. This position requires a complete understanding of the architecture of Microsoft SharePoint (multiple versions from SP 2010 & 2013) and various associated applications and services that are critical to an Enterprise SharePoint environment. This includes but is not limited to Forms Services, InfoPath, IIS, Active Directory, SQL SVR (2008R2, 2012, and 2014), and Virtualization technology.  The SP SME must also have the experience and knowledge for all aspects of system configuration and manage a SharePoint farm within a Microsoft Domain and the Active Directory Services controlling it. The ideal SP SME candidate should be certified as an MCSE SharePoint. Legacy/ retired certification equivalents are acceptable substitutions if the applicant has successfully completed exams for MS 70-331, 70-332, and 10174.


Duties and responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.
  • Installing, configuring, maintaining, upgrading and managing a SharePoint Server or a Farm.
  • Configuring all service applications like Search, Metadata, UserProfile Synchronization, etc.
  • Creation of a Content DB and maintaining it.
  • Assignment of proper permission levels for all users of the site.
  •  Configuring timer jobs depending on business requirements. 
  • Knowledge and use of PowerShell for SP Admin. Support, maintenance scripts, and troubleshooting operations.
  • Training and supporting the business users in their day to day involvement in SharePoint sites.
  • Supporting SharePoint 2010 migrations to a 2013 environment
  • Coordination and troubleshooting for 2010 and 2013 SP issues occurring anywhere in the stack.
  • Strong understanding of Tiered Architecture, Farm Topology, and associated IIS, Active Directory and Mail Configuration.

  • Configuration of Business Connectivity Services for connecting to a SQL DB or WCF service.
  • Strong understanding of what can be done using OOB features in SharePoint.
 
 
SharePoint Developer experience to support WebForm and .NET development tasks within the SharePoint Environment to include assisting with some application development or scripting tasks for the environment as required:
  • Assist in Analyzing critical software requirements to determine the feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
  • Assist in software requirements review, integration readiness review, and software acceptance review
  • Assist the Development Research, designs, and develops critical and complex computer software systems within the SharePoint environment
  • Assist the Development team with mockups and wireframes proposal for web design and branding projects.
  • Assist the development team and potentially develop software system testing procedures, programming, and documentation.
  • Assist with documentation for the maintenance of delivered software systems.
  • Collaborates with technical writers to create customer-relevant documentation.
  • Coordinates with project work teams to ensure adherence to policies, achievement of quality targets and delivery on schedule milestones.
  • Ability to communicate with various groups about a diverse range of Microsoft technologies, specifically in ASP.net, C#, SQL Server, Visual Studio, TFS; UI technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, jQuery; and proficiency with Microsoft .NET technology stack including C#, ASP.net, WCF, AJAX.

Education and Experience:
 

Required

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of ten(10) years of professional SharePoint Administration experience (at least 3 with 2013)
  • A minimum of six (6) years of professional SharePoint Development experience (at least 3 with 2013)
    • SharePoint Designer; SharePoint InfoPath (at least 3 with 2013)
  • A minimum of four (4) years of professional experience with .NET development (C#, ASP.NET)
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience with client-side development (HTML, CSS, JS, AJAX, jQuery)
  • At least six (6) years of experience in advanced troubleshooting skills that span multiple technical areas (operating systems, application, network, storage, etc.)
  • Experience migrating SharePoint 2010 Farm/ Applications/ Database to SharePoint 2013

 

Desired knowledge and experience with MS SQL SVR

  • PL/SQL, TSQL Development
  • Graphic Design experience (Adobe Suite preferred)
