SQL/Report Developer

Position Overview:
The SQL/Report Developer will write SQL queries against a SQL Server database and develop a number of reports using SQL Server Reporting Services. Reporting requirements are based on a legacy application scheduled for decommissioning by the end of FY18. The SQL/Report Developer must be able to develop, unit test and troubleshoot/resolve report issues in a timely manner and ensure that their work is of high quality. The individual must have experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel and have excellent communication skills (both written and oral). Experience with programming languages such as Classic ASP, ASP, HTML/CSS, XML, M204 and Java is a plus in order to understand the legacy system, but not required.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.
  • Develop reports using SQL Server and SSRS based on customer requirements/input
  • Ensure report development follows best practices and industry standards
  • Unit test developed reports and address issues/defects in a timely manner
  • Support/assist other developers and technical staff as needed
  • Be able to work independently with little or no supervision
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with clients, technical team, and management
Education and Requirements:
Required
  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years’ experience with report development, preferably with Microsoft technologies including SQL Server, SSRS, Entity Framework, LINQ and Visual Studio
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
