Position Overview:
Nationwide is seeking an experience professional with analysis, design, and installation of local and wide area networks; and analysis and installation of communications systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Familiar with engineering documentation, network configurations and topologies.
  • Performs network installations and site surveys.
  • Assesses and documents current site network configurations. Preparation of engineering plans and site installation technical design packages.
  • Develops installation schedules.
  • Preparation of drawings documenting configuration changes at each site.
  • Prepares site installation and test reports. Coordinates post-installation operations and maintenance support.
  • Supports enterprise-wide system changes, upgrades, and modification throughout the organization
  • Technical Expert and Advisor in the field of IT and Telecommunications Engineering Design and Implementation inside plant (ISP) and outside plant (OSP) Infrastructure.
  • Ability to designs, surveys, inspects, assesses, test, verifies, and provides Technical Expertise for IT and Wireless Telecommunications Systems.
  • Manages engineering and implementation projects and coordinates trouble ticket resolution.
  • Evaluates, interprets, and delivers pre-implementation drawings; redline drawings; as-built drawings; network diagrams; block diagrams; connectivity diagrams.
  • Works independently and with others and serves as a team member.
  • Work Locations include Confined Spaces such as Maintenance Hole (MH), Hand Hole (HH) and Cable Vault; Bucket Truck; Ladders, Scissor Lifts, Building Entrance Facility, Telecommunication Facility, and Central Office.
  • Performs testing and inspections for ISP and OSP IT and Telecommunication Systems.
  • Delivers Inspection Reports as required including, but not limited to: Discrepancy Reports and remediation criteria; Status Reports; Test Results; Punch Lists; Redline Drawings, List of Materials, Independent Government Cost Estimates, prepares and coordinates Statement of Work.
  • Conducts wireless site surveys using spectrum analysis technologies and recommends and implements corrective action. Generate Heat Maps using Ekahau Survey Pro and or AirMagnet.  75% TDY requirement. Delivers Status Reports and Trip Reports in accordance with PWS specifications.

  • Experience with DoD, National, Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA)/Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), BICSI and OSHA safety standards. General knowledge of operating principles of wired, wireless and RF environments.
  • Wireless network (802.11b/g/a/n, WLAN/WWAN/WMAN) survey/deployment/support experience is preferred. 
  • Possess a general knowledge of wired/wireless equipment installation and basic testing methods and procedures. 
  • Ability to interpret and perform tasks outlined in vendor documentation, technical specifications, and network practices, engineering letters and job aids. Dexterity to connect and disconnect various sizes and types of electronic connectors.
  • Ability to work in overhead rack or grid for extended periods of time pulling long lengths of heavy cables.
  • Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50lbs.  

  • Active BICSI Technician, Installer certification IT/Telecommunications Installer with a primary focus of Low Voltage ISP Twisted Pair Copper Cabling, FOC and associated infrastructure.
  • Minimum five (5) years cabling experience in data communications industry.
  • Must have Aerial lift training
  • Must have Confined Space training
  • Must have Forklift training
  • Must have 10 Hour OSHA Basic Industry course
  • Must be able to install cable infrastructure, communications equipment and materials, Ethernet, and fiber cabling to include termination and testing as well as installing / removing overhead equipment mounts.
  • Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50lbs.  
  • Designs, Site Surveys, Installs, removes, terminates, tests, troubleshoots, repairs, Inspects and maintains IT and Telecommunications Infrastructure including but not limited to: Twisted Pair Copper Cabling; FOC; AV; COAX; Multipurpose Low Voltage cabling and infrastructure; cabinets, racks and shelves; Telephony Blocks; Patch Panels; grounding bus bars and circuits; conduit, cable tray and raceway.
  • Performs patching and cross-connects. Maintains and organizes Telecommunications Rooms and Facilities.
  • Supports Service Now ticket resolution. Performs inspections for IT and Telecommunication Systems including, but not limited to: Cable Plant; Infrastructure; Communications Distribution Systems. Complies with certifications, training and reporting requirements.
