Nationwide IT Services (NIS) is seeking a Project Manager to provide management/oversight support of a time-sensitive development project on our flagship contract. The ideal candidate will have experience managing development teams using Agile/Scrum methodologies and serve as the point of contact for the project team, customers and NIS senior management. The Project Manager will report to the Program Manager of the contract and provide regular updates on project status/issues/concerns in a timely manner.

  • Responsible for management/oversight of database migration from Oracle to SQL Server
  • Support various management aspects of the task order in terms of project planning/scheduling, resource allocation/staffing as well as timely/quality delivery of all project deliverables.
  • Responsible for management/oversight of development team tasked with redevelopment of legacy application used to support the collection, curation, archiving, and dissemination of scientific information.
  • Serve as Scrum Master for development team and oversee development efforts using Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Meet with project staff and USGS customers regularly to discuss project status/issues/concerns/risk.
  • Actively engaged in documentation of all as-is and to-be support processes/activities and enforcing documentation standards as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with other support staff and task order leads to assign resources based on customer priorities/needs.
  • Identify, communicate and lead ongoing process improvement and best practice initiatives.
  • Prepare weekly reports for Program Manager, customers and senior management on tasks/activities as well as risks/concerns and mitigation strategies.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field required.
  • 6-8 years of project management expertise, preferably within a government agency setting
  • Knowledge/experience working with a development team with mature Scrum/Agile processes
  • Knowledge/experience with Scrum/Agile tools such as Jira for managing and prioritizing development tasks
  • Understanding of Cloud Computing concepts
  • Superior verbal/written communication skills
  • Must be US Citizen or Authorized to Work in the United States.
  • Ability to obtain and retain a Public Trust clearance

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification
  • Familiarity/experience with CMMI Level 3 processes and procedures
